Causes: Women, Womens Service Clubs
Mission: An organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
Programs: Jle-ns volunteer relations: provides training and education to promote volunteer relations for the benefit of the community programs and sponsorship activities. More than 20 members received training and reviewed chicago public schools small classroom grant requests through the chicago foundation for education.
jle-ns community programs & activities: provides funds for advancing employment and supporting families. The fitting futures committee partnered with seven agencies and hosted ten fittings which outfitted 50 clients with job attire. The league's thrift house now has a dedicated career corner for professional attire. A baby shower was held for 15 at risk moms who were provided education and baby necessities. jle-ns thrift house: provides donated, quality, low cost goods and volunteers to run the thrift store. It serves the surrounding communities,focusing on low income individuals and families in need. The thrift store gives the jlens the opportunity to offer a voucher program to assist other non-profit organizations such as mary lou's place (the evanston domestic violence shelter).
