Mission: Junior achievement empowers young people to own their economic success. In partnerships with business and educators, junior achievement brings the real world to students, opening their minds to their potential and preparing them for the world of work.
Programs: Elementary school: this program introduces kindergarten through fifth-grade. It introduces students the basic concepts of business and economics. The program also teaches students that people assume roles as individuals, consumers, and workers in an expanding cultural environment that extends from the self and family to global relations. Junior achievement of eastern iowa served approximately 30,700 elementary students in 1,200 classes at a total cost of $899,410. Of these expenses, $362,569 is not included in the form 990 as it is the value of the 12,765 hours provided by our business volunteers. If it were not for our dedicated volunteers, junior achievement of eastern iowa would need to pay for these services.
middle school: this program is for grades sixth through eighth. It challenges the students to identify education and career goals based on their skills, interests, and values. The program helps students understand how the career they select will affect them financially and the global economy as a whole. Additionally, students will learn about the importance of possessing strong entrepreneurial skills. Junior achievement of eastern iowa served approximately 15,700 middle school students in 384 classes at a total cost of $460,345. Of these expenses, $185,574 is not included in the form 990 as it is the value of the 5,166 hours provided by our business volunteers. If it were not for our dedicated volunteers, junior achievement of eastern iowa would need to pay for these services.
high school: this program helps students make informed, intelligent decisions about their future, and foster skills that will be highly useful in the business world. Through these programs, students also learn about the tools and skills required to earn and keep a job in the 21st century marketplace and how to be financially independent. Junior achievement of eastern iowa served approximately 4,800 high school students in 261 classes at a total cost of $139,748. Of these expenses, $56,335 is not included in the form 990 as it is the value of the 2,679 hours provided by our business volunteers. If it were not for our dedicated volunteers, junior achievement of eastern iowa would need to pay for these services.
