Mission: Jwg's mission is to catalyze financial and volunteer support to help at- risk youth overcome barriers so they stay in school, graduate, and transition to continued education and careers. To do this, we partner with employers to provide jobs, internships, training, mentorships, job shadowing, and tours and raise funds to eliminate financial barriers to success (bus passes, testing and credentialing fees, id fees, professional clothing for job interviews and employment); cover costs associated with college tours and leadership development opportunities; and provide technology needed for schoolwork and job search. Jwg accomplishes this objective by partnering with jobs for america's graduates (jag). Jag is a national organization with state-level affiliates in 32 states.
Programs: Jwg invested 36,387 in jwg programs at 21 school sites providing funds for barrier reduction (funds were used to purchase interview outfits, bus passes, school supplies, industry certification, test fees, and state id cards for low-income students); college and career exploration (funded trips to colleges, local employers, career and trade fairs and employment offices to increase awareness of education and job opportunities); and technology (provided funding to purchase computers used for academics, college applications and job searches). These investments help improve graduation and employment rates for at-risk youth enrolled in our programs.
