I am a family therapist working with parents; I look forward to the monthly enews from Simplicity Learning as a great resource for well-researched articles and insights into family life. i have known Brianna for more than 8 years, and am deeply impressed by her commitment and achievements in bringing high quality learning experiences to families and carers. Simplicity Learning embraces the messiness and gloriousness of contemporary family life with compassion and practical support. This is an endeavor well worth supporting!
Volunteering as a co teacher at Parent Tot Playgroups is a high point of my week. I learn so much from the parents, children, and fellow teachers. I leave feeling like I am a part of a nurturing community.
I cannot say enough about the positive impact Simplicity Learning has had on my life as a parent. The parent-tot groups are a wonderful way to see positive parenting practices in action. Parent coaches are kind, supportive, and always surprise me with the breadth and depth of their wisdom related to parenting. They see through the fog of difficult parenting times and help bring clarity to a way forward. I would absolutely recommend their services to anyone who works with children. This organization is truly special and I have not encountered another one like it, where the staff are not only caring but also truly experts at what they do.
I love going to Simplicity Learning! It's a beautiful, peaceful oasis where the children are free to play amongst wood blocks and gnomes and their guardians can enjoy meaningful conversation and companionship!
Best thing we have done as parents. Our kids have benefited greatly from the perspective and views that are provided. I've recommended them to many of my friends.
A wonderful resource for parents and professionals who wish to increase their skills to be more attuned to child development and intentional about interacting with children. The director and staff are expert in these areas and gentle and humane in sharing their wisdom.
I have gained so much through one-on-one parent coaching from Briana at Simplicity. She is kind, encouraging and incredibly well-informed about children and their development (not to mention parents and their development!). I highly recommend Simplicity whether you just have some things you want to run by someone or are feeling overwhelmed and underprepared for being the parent you want to be. (P.S. My 4 year old gives two thumbs up as well!)
I love working with Simplicity Educational Services. The work they do, helping parents, educators, and child care professionals to simplify, is so important. Caring for children can be overwhelming, especially now. SES provides a safe, supportive, space, and real world, practical suggestions for ways to cope.
It is wonderful that Simplicity Learning is there for children and parents. The staff and volunteers provide needed support for families to thrive. I always enjoy the feeling of well being that surrounds the different playgroups and workshops.
I serve on the board and as board secretary. I do not come into contact with clients. The board experience is very solid -- the executive director is well organized and has a good grasp of what is board business and what is not board business. She also provides excellent clerical support for the board. Organizational performance data, including client feedback, is monitored by the board and is overwhelmingly positive.

I've been a board member since inception. The greatest thing about it is that we have good governance systems in place and our executive director makes our work straightforward by being very thorough, well-organized, transparent, forthcoming and honest with the board. Although I am not on site when client activities are going on, I am fully confident, based on my board experience, that clients are well served!
I've been volunteering at Simplicity Learning for the last five years and always learn something new from every workshop and playgroup I attend. It's good to be around people who care about child development and who want to support parents and teachers. I find my community here with the other families. Super grateful to be included in this work!

I always enjoy working with the clients and other volunteers at Simplicity because I always learn something new about caring for children and each other. Parenting and teaching can be too lonely sometimes. It's great to connect and get helpful information and new ways of looking at problems and solutions.
I highly recommend taking a Simplicity Learning class with Brianna, what an amazing group discussion we were able to have each week under her thoughtful and calm guidance.
After taking this class I've really built a solid range of small and manageable tools to help guide my young children. The tips from the book, group and discussion group have an impact on the whole family and I've been amazed at how even the simplest tweak can have a huge ripple effect across all our wellbeing.
I am fortunate to have been included in a Simplicity Learning class this summer. It helped the way in which I parent my two children, ages 3 and 7. Instead of immediately reacting to situations, behaviors and emotions, I learned valuable tools and techniques to calm myself and my children and be able to better see a larger picture. I've learned that picking one or two things to work on at a time in a particular area feels manageable and yields helpful results. Briana was a wonderful leader and we had a very supportive group. I highly recommend Simplicity Learning.
I connected with a staff member at Simplicity Learning to facilitate a group of eastside moms during an in-home Simplicity Parenting workshop this past summer. It was such a powerful experience for all involved and it really exceeded my expectations. I found the information regarding parenting types and styles to be very helpful as well as exploring the "soul fever" concept. I have 2 children, ages 8 and 5 and I only wish I had started down this path sooner. I highly recommend this organization to any parent/caregiver!
I have attended several partner tot groups with Simplicity. The experience has been fabulous. Some of the benefits are healthy and collaborative parenting is modeled by the staff, meaningful conversation about parenting between the parents, and a sense of community as we all discover the path of parenthood.I also have received parent coaching from Simplicity. My coach offered tangible recommendations to support my families needs. This organization is a great reroute for families!
Simplicity Learning has provided me with the opportunity to engage with community and support a model of education and personal / professional growth that is beneficial to parents, caregivers, teachers, and children. Because the executive director is so experienced and well-organized, it has been easy for me to plug in to a variety of volunteer roles, depending on my schedule and desired level of involvement. Although my contributions may be small, I feel appreciated and valued for my time, and enjoy the positive spirit of the organization.
I've been a board member at Simplicity for several years, during which I have experienced only good things from this little organization. I do not have direct interaction with clients, but the board is kept apprised of programs (on-target with current needs, creative and appealing) and client feedback (consistently excellent). Our Executive Director runs a well-organized, transparent and efficient operation that makes it very easy to be a board member. She knows what she's doing in her field of expertise and also in administering the operation. The board is well supported and well informed, and I am proud to be part of this effort and very confident in its value!
Simplicity Learning is truly a great resource for parents of young children. I volunteered there for a little over a year (and would have continued had it not been for a change in my schedule!), and over the course of every quarter, I would see how being under the care and expertise of Brianna and Jackie both the parents and their children would develop and learn a lot. A warm and supportive community for parents, their children, and volunteers!
I wish that more parents were clear about their roles in relation to their children. I see a lot of kids suffering and trying to please their grown-ups and a lot of parents who aren't in control of themselves. Simplicity Learning can help!
Simplicity Learning provides a warm and loving atmosphere of learning for children and their families. When you walk into a playgroup or workshop there, you are entering a peaceful land that invites you to participate in an unusually calm and beneficial adventure. The experienced staff and volunteers skillfully provide guidance to promote children’s growth and good health.
They offer many educational opportunities and do many interesting and helpful trainings for childcare providers.
I always enjoy helping out at Simplicity Learning because the parents who go there for help are given good information to raise their children the best way that they can.

I really enjoyed this training from Simplicity Learning! Briana is extremely knowledgeable and really connects with the individuals in her class. I felt welcomed and the conversation flowed throughout the night. Overall a great experience!
I really enjoyed this training from Simplicity Learning! Briana is extremely knowledgeable and really connects with the participants in her classes. I felt welcomed the minute I walked in, especially since I drove a distance to be there. Any questions that were asked were answered very thoroughly and thoughtfully. The topic of sensory processing disorders is one that is extremely interesting to me, and it was presented in a way that kept myself, as well as, the other participants engaged the entire time. I would have loved it to be longer!
I am the owner and Director of a preschool in Bellevue and have been workng with young children for the past 18 years. I wholeheartedly endorse the wonderful programs that the Simplicity Learning staff have created! Their parent-tot groups and classes are a valuable resource for families, educators, and childcare professionals alike. I recently recommended one of Simplicity Learning's STARS workshops to two of my Lead Teachers, who came away from the workshop with a wealth of information and new tools for helping to manage transitions in our preschool classrooms. As a result of the information they gained from the workshop and implemented in the classroom, our daily transition times are much calmer and more enjoyable for both our students and teachers. I already recommend Simplicity Learning's teacher training workshops to two other preschool directors and plan to have my teachers attend more of them in the future!
They were great. I liked the personal interaction with their staff. I love them. I wish them all kinds of success.
I have attended a few events through Simplicity Learning and remain connected through their e-newsletter. Each experience has been positive and I came away feeling like the interactions and resources was just what I needed in my present life as a busy mom of a preschooler and six month old. Even their recent Valentine's wish struck a cord with me when I read the quote from Mister Rogers. Simplicity Learning has helped me continue on my desired path as a parent and I'm thankful they are providing support and community to families in our area.
I recently took a STARS class through Simplicity and it was WONDERFUL!! Very well prepared and knowledgeable with topics. THANK YOU!
I love Simplicity Learning! I am just delighted that we have this place where people can come together and experience what healthy child development looks like and to meet like-minded people.
My three-year old and I have been attending the Simplicity Parenting Playgroup. It is one of the best parent-child activities for us because we have learned so much, and as a result, able to better enjoy each other's presence. During the program, I learned how to interpret and respond to the "language of children" in the seemingly informal but often in-depth conversations with the facilitators and through watching them interact with the children. While my child enjoyed free play time, the program facilitators thoughtfully watched the children play and offered loving support only when necessary. I mostly enjoy the sense of peace and warmth I experience at Simplicity Learning and so glad that I am able to bring it back to my family.
I participated in the parent-tot playgroup, several trainings, and individual parent-coaching. Prior to attending Simplicity Educational Services, I did a lot of reading about parenting. I still had feelings of uncertainty about how to parent my then 2 year old. What I appreciate about Simplicity is that I was able to witness teachers modeling responses as well as receive practical steps tailored to my child. Simplicity provides the theoretical and practical framework that allows you to solve almost any issue. This is accomplished through trainings, specific guidance, and practice. Parenting only happens once with each child and I could have learned from my mistakes the hard way, some perhaps many years later. However, the collective wisdom I received at Simplicity helped me be the best parent I can be at the present moment.
Philosophically, Simplicity is an oasis in an arena that expects children to behave like adults and pushes them to stretch their cognitive abilities at younger ages, often beyond what they can handle developmentally. I have also thought deeply about their motto of "preserving childhood" and despite initial skepticism, I am more on board with it now than ever. At Simplicity, I learned to see things from a child development point of view and it has really reduced conflict between me and my now 4 year old. I find myself returning to Simplicity for guidance because once I mastered one developmental stage, it's not long before a new one arrives! I encourage anyone working with children or making policy regarding children to give Simplicity a try. It has really touched my life and I wouldn't be the same parent without it.
Simplicity Learning is hands down the most helpful parent tot program I have attended and I would know because I've been to a lot over the past 9 years. Many programs attempt to focus on both the child and the caregiver but, this is the first and only program I have been a part of that accomplishes that. I love being able to have all of my parenting concerns addressed in a supportive and nurturing environment over a cup of warm tea. While at the same time my child plays with beautifully natural toys, learns social skills and is cared for by teachers who are thoughtful and attentive. And the best part is we all sit and eat a healthy homemade meal together that I didn't have to cook. And did I mention that my 2 year old now eats raw celery, carrots and spinach because of it? I don't know what I'd do without Simplicity Learning...probably be stuck in my house a lot more looking for answers in a book. Thanks for building me this community that is truly the answer to learning how to raise children (because it's not always that simple ;)
Over the past year I have been attending the Simplicity Learning parent-tot groups with my now 4 year old son and 9 month old baby. I came to Simplicity Learning looking for a place to connect with other parents and also get some advice on dealing with the difficult toddler years. My experience at Simplicity Learning has definitely exceeded my expectations, and I would even say that it has been life-changing. The weekly parent-tot groups are a calming reprieve from the busyness of daily life with kids. The teachers and volunteers not only share their wisdom and expertise about parenting, but they demonstrate it each week with the children so you can see good parenting in action. Before coming to Simplicity Learning, good parenting was a mystery to me. I had read about it in books, but I didn't think it was possible in practice. Our family life has been changed for the better as a result of our time at Simplicity. I now know how to be matter-of-fact and firm in setting limits with my son while still being kind and happy. I have learned that it is ok to for my son to have a tantrum, and I can be there by his side as he goes through various feelings. Simplicity Learning has been a wonderful place to learn and also a place to feel a sense of community and extended family. Each time we go feels as warm and inviting as a visit to grandma's house, and my kids feel as comfortable and loved there as they would at grandma's house too. I cannot recommend Simplicity Learning enough for young parents.
My experience with simplicity learning has been very rewarding. I have attending parent tot classes several times, along with one on one parent coaching. I find the modeling from the instructors very professional and helpful. There is no judgement or dogma here, the intention is to create harmonious relationships between parents and children. Parents and children are accepted at their level of understanding or awareness. Through activities and direct conversations, parents are lovingly suggested to take a closer look at their parenting style as it pertains to the child's needs. The methods and compassion show at Simplicity is unmatched. I would suggest this organization to anyone looking for meaningful and considerate parenting support.
I began as a client of Simplicity Learning/Educational Services, and now spend time in both roles of client and volunteer. The support provided to me as a client was unlike any other support I received as a parent. I felt so connected and mentored and held in my role as mother. In my time as a volunteer, it has been the best volunteer gig I've ever had. The Director of the non-profit allows me to work at my pace, with my gifts, and is always supportive and grateful. Simplicity Learning is one of my favorite places to be and to support.
Simplicity Educational Services came to our school to lead a customized training for our staff on "Deconstructing Discipline". I really liked that the training included resources for communicating and collaborating with the parents, as well as for the children. Many fresh ideas were shared with us on how to better reach our students where they are at and how to help them grow in an area where we as teachers might be struggling to connect with them. Our instructor shared tools that would help us as teachers not to get overwhelmed and to keep our stress levels down. Our instructor communicated clearly and took time to answer all of our questions. I am looking forward to implementing what I have learned from this training. It is nice to know that there is such a valuable resource available to teachers!
I am so glad that Simplicity Learning exists and provides a place for parents and teachers to get great information and feel supported. Volunteering with SES is a great experience. Everyone working here is committed to helping people who care for children make good decisions and I really feel the work I'm doing is making a difference.
