I met Loki Mulholland through Facebook after watching his Documentary, The Uncomfortable Truth. I was touched by the honesty in the film. From there we’ve been on an journey together to help heal our nation through education. The Joan Trumpauer Mulholland Foundation is the organization that helps to fill in the gaps of untold stories in American history that haven’t been the easiest to share because of of racism. However, Mulholland’s bold leadership is changing the next generation and I want to thank him wholeheartedly for the work they’re doing.
There is not a better resource available for educating students about ongoing fight for Civil Rights. I have used the resources in my own high school classroom, as part of my U.S. History curriculum, more importantly, I have used the information to develop and teach a class focused on the history of American Civil Rights. The opportunities which I have been able to offer my students because of the JTM Foundation will be remembered by them forever.
As a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization in Mississippi that focuses on eliminating disparities in health, education, and technology, SR1 values the importance of the Joan Trumpauer Mulholland Foundation. Ms. Joan and Loki’s conversations on equality have helped to instill a sense of community within our students, helping them to connect past Civil Rights issues to present-day Civil Rights issues. We were so privileged to host them pre-pandemic to educate our students and families, and we look forward to hosting them again post-pandemic based on their educational importance and professionalism.
The JTM does several things that make it a favorite. Through many that participated, using, film, books and people it tell the history of the Freedom Rides in particular and the events Of the Civil Rights Movement. Through Joan it tells what it was like to be a part of that, but more importantly it helps young people know the history and find what they can do going forward.
An important part is the collection and dispersal of funds to those that participate in the Movement and have found themselves in need. Personally, I am fond of the films that have been produced by Loki Mulholland To tell the history of the Movement. Participating with Loki on the Podcasts has been exciting and a wonderful way to share and gain knowledge.
I made a donation to give where it counts directly to an organization whose primary goal it is to help the world be BETTER for us all. Thank you…please give for equality through education!!!
I feel so lucky to have found this resource! The Joan Trumpauer Mulholland Foundation is filled with so many wonderful educational opportunities for anyone wanting to learn how to become an activist and help create real social change. When I reached out to try to get Joan to do a presentation for our small organization, Loki Mulholland was so helpful! He not only spent the time to set up the date and time for the presentation, but we also talked for a while on the phone about all of the different educational documentaries and podcasts that they had to offer. We are so excited to have this wonderful partnership to help educate and grow our current and future generations to become activists!
Great programs and videos that tell the social justice and civil rights story through the lens of a witness and others who were on the front lines of making our nation better.
JTM Foundation definitely stepped in and helped the Foot Soldiers of the Civil Rights Movement when the need was the greatest. Without hesitation, they helped hundreds who were in need. Mr. Loki Mulholland is a joy to work with. He is always pleasant and helpful. I feel my words or any words for that matter would be enough to share what this foundation does for those who are less fortunate.
The Joan Trumpauer Mulholland Foundation is one of the most needed foundations right now. The need for education about the history of The Civil Rights movement has perhaps never been more urgent.
The content produced by this foundation is not only informational but its entertaining and relatable as well. It really gives me a deeper understand of what I can do to help make life better and equal for all people.
The mission is critical, relevant and should be taught to all our children at a young age.
The authenticity of Mrs. Mulholland’s historical experience through first person perspective was not only enlightening, but it was inspiring and a prompt to continue on in the mission of service and community presence. I would recommend that the accounts of her legacy continue to be shared and to be incorporated into as many educational components as possible here in the U.S.
These guys are the real deal. They have a clear message and the skill and experience to make it heard. Joan is a living legend and her work continues through this wonderful foundation.
Joan's courage and sacrifice are amazing! I'm thankful that they are doing their part to eliminate racism in the world.
In a time where facts are being challenged, it is so important to hear from the voices of the people who were there. First person accounts are so important to document. Joan and Loki addressed our community MLK celebration and learning our country’s history through its participants is extremely impactful.
