Programs: Counseling services - tools for life: provides a full range of counseling services across the age span. Modalities utilized include individual, couples, family and group therapies as well as art, yoga and play therapy when appropriate. Specific areas of expertise also include counseling for survivors of domestic violence and individuals in recovery from substance abuse and addiction. Additional services available include psycho-educational evaluations, divorce support services and substance abuse prevention education for middle and high school students. Finally, the pal program provides 1:1 mentoring for jewish children in need of safe and stable adult companionship. More than 6,310 counseling hours were provided to more than 1005 clients. Surveys, mental health assessments and follow up services indicated: -93% of clients surveyed reported making progress toward meeting their goals. -87% of clients surveyed reported that counseling services are helping to improve their situation. -96% of clients surveyed would recommend jf&cs counseling to a friend or family member in need
developmental disabilities services - independenceworks: provides support to adults seeking to reach their full potential and live as independently as possible. Independenceworks (previously tools for independence) served 22 individuals through supported employment services of which 17 were employed and 16 retained employment for at least 180 days. Jf&cs' zimmerman-horowitz independent living program (zhilp) served 34 individuals. Surveys and/or assessments indicated: -100% of employers completing satisfaction surveys indicated satisfaction with client job performance -83% of those enrolled in zhilp participated in social outings at least once per week -90% of those enrolled in zhilp maintained or improved their health
ben massell dental clinic: provides the most advanced and comprehensive dental care at no cost and other integrated health services available to atlanta's unemployed and working poor utilizing 150 ga licensed volunteer dentists, mental health staff and partnerships with primary health providers. The ben massell dental clinic serves low-income (at or below 125% fpl), uninsured patients. In fy17 the estimated fair market value for the free comprehensive dental services was 3. 8 million (not including mental & primary health services) representing 19,876 procedures to 3,975 unique patients. Patient surveys indicated: -96% reported reduced pain -multiple instances of oral cancer and other chronic conditions were detected that were unknown to the patient, and medical care was arranged for each one -over 40 patients each month indicated use of the clinic as an alternative to the emergency room, an estimated savings to the public health system of more than 500,000 per year -92% of patients receiving dentures report positive change in ability to eat and speak
aviv older adult services - tools for aging: provides comprehensive and proactive answers for older adults and their families with older adult counseling, geriatric care management, and friendly visiting, case management services and caregiver support, offering the full service support that older adults need to live safely and comfortably in their own homes. Services provided to participants without caregivers allow them to remain in their home and be involved in community activities. Jf&cs served 1,401 older adults. Caregiver and client surveys and/or assessments indicated: -96% of older adult recipients reported improved social connections -83% of older adult recipients reported feeling less socially isolated -89% of caregivers were able to manage stress better career services - tools for employment: working in partnership with individuals who have barriers to employment to improve skill levels and/or employability. Services include skill training and job coaching, job search strategy including, resume development, cover letters, interviewing, networking, salary negotiation and more. In fy17 178 job seekers with significant barriers to employment successfully obtained employment. Client data indicated: -84% of clients who gained employment retained employment for 90 days or more -95% of clients who gained employment and reported their income were making more than minimum wage
