Causes: Alumni Associations, Education
Mission: To facilitate the lifetime connection of alumni, students, and friends with iowa state university and each other.
Programs: Communications: visions magazine is published four times per year and mailed to the isu alumni association's 52,000 members. Isu news flash is an electronic newsletter sent to approximately 26,000 members every other week. Additionally, a non-member isu news flash is sent quarterly to approximately 60,000 alumni. Additional communications services include web sites for the isu alumni association and its affiliate student programs; the online community, which includes an alumni directory, career center, and business directory; and an annual printed isu wall calendar. The isu alumni association communications objective is to connect isu alumni and friends to the university, to the association, and to each other through relevant services and entertaining, informative, enlightening communications.
alumni events: outreach and events host a variety of events, programs and services for alumni and friends locally and across the nation to engage alumni in the life of the university. Events include but are not limited to athletic-related events, alumni clubs, young alumni programs, reunions, awards, career programs, volunteer program, alumni receptions and prospective student events. Anually, over 400 events and programs are planned. Over 800,000 pieces of communication reach 50,000 constituent households of which over 12,000 attend the planned events. Volunteers assist with the programs and events. Osher life long learning institute provides a learning experience for those 50 and over, with over 60 classes each year. The isu retirees association provides a monthly program, newsletter and socials for reitred faculty and staff.
membership and marketing: membership and marketing handles all duties related to the membership program including recruitment (contacted more than 150,000 households via direct mail, 20,000 households via phone, and 80,000 households via e-mail), retention, benefit procurement, and fulfillment to more than 50,000 members; coordinates other programs including affinity programs, merchandise programs (1,700 items sold), the sponsorship program, and other special projects to engage business partners with our alumni; assists with the marketing of other association programs; coordinates the association's efforts related to the constituent database; operates other association programs with a specific membership component.
