Programs: The young scholars summit is an annual project directed and funded by the irlbr. The summit provides an opportunity for participants to explore a major issue in biblical scholarship with the benefit of peer review and an opportunity to publish the results of their research. In 2014 it involved a week of research, study and discussion in cambridge, england, for four junior scholars who had recently completed their doctoral studies, led by two senior scholars and a program director. The summit considered the theme of "messianism in the old testament psalms". Discussions dealt with psalms 2, 22, 45 and 110, considering both the old testament context of these psalms and their usage in the new testament. The participants reported on their work at the annual meeting of the society of biblical literature in san diego in november 2014. The project led to the production of a collaborative writing project intended to help laity and pastors grow in their understanding of these biblical texts. The organization maintains a library on the campus of southwestern baptist theological seminary.
