Programs: The mission of ilar is to advance rheumatology in developing countries. It does so with the collaboration of leaders of international rheumatology organizations, united to support programs that lead to progress in the practice and education of rheumatology in countries where there is an exceptional need. Ilar stimulates and promotes the development of awareness, knowledge, and the means of prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and relief of musculoskeletal diseases. Ilar fosters cooperation between different countries and geographical areas through existing continental, regional, and national organizations concerned with the means of prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and relief of musculoskeletal diseases. Ilar encourages and assists in the foundation of such organizations in such countries and geographic areas as they may not from time to time exist. Ilar stimulates and supports scientific research in the field of musculoskeletal diseases. In 2017 ilar awarded a total of $109,521 in grants to 7 individuals in furtherance of its organizational purpose.
