Mission: To be the multidisciplinary world authority on lung and other thoracic cancers through collaborative science, education, and advocacy in order to ensure optimal prevention and patient care.
Results: The International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) is the only global network dedicated to the study and eradication of lung cancer and other thoracic malignancies. Since its founding in 1974, the association’s membership has grown to more than 10,000 lung and thoracic cancer specialists from all disciplines and more than 100 countries. By hosting global conferences, funding cutting-edge research, and educating the health care community and the public about thoracic cancers, the IASLC works to alleviate the burden lung cancer places on patients, families, and communities.
Target demographics: Lung Cancer Patients Worldwide
Direct beneficiaries per year: Over 10,000 lung cancer specialists and thousands of patients worldwide
Geographic areas served: Internationally
Programs: RESEARCH: Donations from patients, caregivers, and those individuals passionate about accelerating the pace of lung cancer research, as well as from our organization and corporate partners, go directly to funding our Research awards. This program provides researchers throughout their careers with vital funding opportunities, fostering both tomorrow's lung cancer visionaries and milestones in patient care.
EDUCATION: Every project that the IASLC dedicates itself to revolves around lung cancer research across specialties and from around the globe. Whether that novel research is showcased in a new multi-day all-virtual symposium, a podcast, or a webinar with expert panelists who can put the data in context or in an IASLC Lung Cancer News (ILCN) article that discusses the nuances of daily clinical application, we strive to support and promote practice-changing research, and providing education to all of our volunteers and members.
PATIENT ADVOCACY: Amplifying the patient voice to improve the speed and quality of research. The IASLC is proud to support and partner with various patient advocacy groups, patient research advocates, and patient advocates from around the globe.
CONFERENCES AND WEBINARS: Whether virtual or on location, thoracic oncology specialists attend IASLC conferences and webinars to discover, collaborate, and inform. IASLC meetings and educational events feature multidisciplinary topics and faculty, present the most novel research in thoracic oncology, and assist attendees with transitioning new knowledge from the podium to the patient.
