Mission: The Mission of InterCultura -To create racially and culturally mixed, developmentally appropriate foreign language medium environments for children in the preschool and early elementary years, i.e., during their critical developmental period for native-level language acquisition, so that American children from divers backgrounds eventually emerge as functionally bilingual - speaking, reading and writing both in English and in either Spanish or Japanese. -To create a community of committed adults from broadly differing cultural backgrounds and many different nations, a community of scholars, the object of whose scholarship is the children entrusted to our care. -To function as a home for the children of working parents whose family life is restricted to evenings and weekends. -To foster parents' commitment to long-term participation in the Montessori approach to second-language immersion at both the preschool and elementary levels. -To foster mutual understanding and mutual respect so that individual and cultural differences be not merely tolerated but celebrated as occasions of creativity, preconditions for adaptation, fulfillment and joy.
