Causes: Arts & Culture, Ballet
Mission: Integral ballet educates students on classical ballet. The academic emphasis is placed on classical technique, terminology, historical context, classical music and performance aspects. Students learn the discipline of ballet and adhere to strict policies in both technique and application of the ballet they learn, and also to school policies and procedures. Students are given the opportunity to perform for lecture/demos in the community, to perform in community events including street fairs and festivals, park festivals, library demos, to perform to raise money for charity and annual end-of-year performances. Students learn new choregraphy to a historical ballet of note each year and the past repertoire includes: the firebird,cinderella,a midsummer's eve,la bayadere,giselle,les sylphides and others.
Programs: Integral ballet educated 189 students, ages 18 months to 65 years on classical ballet, emphasizing classical technique, terminolgy, historical context, classical music,strength and conditioning and performance aspects. Students learned the discipline of ballet and adhered to strict policies in both technique and application of the ballet learned, and also to school policies and procedures.
in 2017, students performed several lecture/demos at the nathan hale senior housing complex in lynbrook ny: a merry mini nutcracker,les miserables and various classes and demostrations. Students also performed in community events including the merrick chamber kids fest and fall street fairs in merrick and bellmore ny, and the newbridge road school's 'let's get healthy day and the progressive school's health awareness day. Student's and company members also performed in the nutcracker and the end of year concert, as well as in a charity performance of a ballet tribute to les miserables: raising money for the andrea rizzo foundation to bring creative movement therapy to children with terminal illness and special needs. The school also became a 'project plie initiative' partner through weekly classes taught at the freeport recreation center.
