community service - counseling services to the community. Sofia's community center for health and wellness (cchw) offers sliding scale counseling and spiritual guidance services. No one is turned away for an inability to pay. Cchw counselors combine contemporary psychotherapy with values that honor the mind, body and spirit in programs for marriage and family therapy, spiritual guidance, health counseling and the treatment of trauma. Research - the sofia research program seeks greater understanding of the exceptional, transcendent, and transformative human experience. Some of the research at sofia includes: (1) psychosocial, spiritual, and physical experiences of people diagnosed with cancer (2) the nature of transpersonal leadership (3) the mechanisms and effectiveness of transpersonal psychotherapy (4) eeg patterns of the brain during various forms of mediation. Scholarships - sofia offers a variety of scholarships based on need and academic excellence. Sofia supports and encourages students who wish to make a difference with underserved populations of the world, while promoting the diversity of its student body, through its diversity scholarship fund.
