Mission: IIMCR, founded in 1995, grew out of a need to prepare future leaders in how to deal with conflicts in the world.
IIMCR recognized that universities and governments around the globe are not providing their constituencies with the proper skills for preventing and dealing with conflict. As a result conflict, which can be abated through proactive problem solving, is instead triggering into increased tension and violence in all parts of the world.
Programs: IIMCR, in cooperation with its academic partner, the Erasmus University of Rotterdam, conducts practical training courses for students and young professionals from graduate schools, non-governmental organizations and foreign ministries from throughout the world.
Under the guidance of experts from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, The Carter Center, The Netherlands Institute of International Relations, and others, participants learn effective negotiation and mediation skills through simulations and lectures. In between simulations, participants hear lectures from prominent government officials and others which amounts to a generational transfer of skills.
