Programs: Program area 1: mississippi project. Idea supports community-led advocacy and organizing in mississippi through raising up the voices of community members and providing training and support to turn those ideas into policy proposals and advocacy efforts. In 2016 idea worked with a group of parents in jackson to hold community dinners, bring in speakers, and offer training on educational decision-making and advocacy.
program 2: educational tours. Idea organizes tours to schools and other learning spaces, providing educators, young people, parents, and others with the opportunity to see what is possible and bring new ideas back to their own settings. In 2016 idea brought young people and adult staff from over a dozen youth organizations in new england to see student-centered learning in action across two series of learning tours.
program 3: learning. Idea supports educational change makers to learn together and gain new ideas through the use of events, learning calls, and drafting learning reports. In 2016 idea held several national learning calls on key relevant topics, with people attending live and many more listening to and sharing the recordings.
