Mission: The mission of the institute for applied ecology is to conserve native species and habitats through restoration, research and education by means of scientific research on habitats and species of concern, education of children and adults and information sharing.
Programs: Habitat restoration is dedicated to the ecological restoration of pacific northwest habitats by conducting on-the-ground restoration, developing ecologically appropriate seed mixes, cultivating partnerships that promote regional conservation and advancing restoration science techniques.
conservation research conducts research and monitoring of native species and ecosystems in order to determine population trends and effective methods for management and restoration, conducts research on invasive species in order to determine effective control methods and develops plan for the management and restoration of native ecosystems.
special projects comprises ecological research in areas that fall outside the mission of other programs.
the native seed network supports habitat restoration by providing access to information about plant materials. The ecological education program offers opportunities for k-12 sutdents, teachers, and community members to engage in place-based stewardship education through school programs, teacher workshops, and volunteering. Our programs are experiential, hands-on, and inspire inquiry and action.
