Mission: The mission of the venture cafe foundation consists of three pillars:- building and connecting communities of innovation locally, nationally, and internationally. - expanding the definition of innovation and entrepreneurship. They are not just about making apps. - building a more inclusive innovation economy. We want to make sure that questions about inequality and inclusion are part of the innovation and entrepreneurship conversation not an afterthought.
Programs: Thursday venture cafe in cambridge: the weekly venture cafe serves as a physical nexus for helping innovators and entrepreneurs find one another and collaborate to bring their dreams to reality. These thursday evening gatherings provide a space for conversations and scheduled programs to inspire a wide range of attendees from around the world to connect. Even in this digital world, it's important to have a physical space. Shared physical spaces provide common meeting ground and a forum for semi-serendipitous encounters that often foster brainstorming and drive creativity. Meeting in person establishes the trust that's so crucial to working together, particularly on risky, underfunded projects. The venture cafe can provide the framework upon which numerous experimental "applications" can be nurtured and launched. Entrepreneurs, engineers, scientists, developers, designers and other members of the boston startup community drop in to chat about what they're working on. Our impact on the innovation community can been measured based on the number of returning participants and events. Over the last few years we have hosted: - 800+ events - 150+ free office hour sessions (mostly with a variety of professionals, including vcs) - 150+ info tables - 100+ roundtable discussions - 250+ talks providing assistance and advice for startups - 150+ events with venture capitalists, angel investors, and acceleratorsventure cafe, st. Inside you'll find open workspace, classrooms, assembly space, flexible use 'pods', and writable surfaces everywhere. District hall is the result of a collaborative public-private partnership. The city of boston's vision for the innovation district called for a gathering space for innovators to get together and share ideas. The building was privately funded and built by boston global investors, as the first project in their twenty-three acre masterplan for seaport square.
mass bay innovation alliance:the mass bay innovation alliance (mbia) connects innovation players worldwide to the massachusetts innovation ecosystem. Mbia provides introductions and facilitates opportunities to visit boston area innovation-related institutions and to take part in local innovation-related activities. Our goal is to foster international linkages with the massachusetts innovation economy with the aim of creating concrete, valuable outcomes. Mbia-organized visits provide visitors with insight into massachusetts' vibrant innovation ecosystem, and provides a starting point to initiate collaborations. Mbia also tells the story of the massachusetts innovation economy.
