Mission: The MISSION of IRCC is to assist refugees, immigrants and low-income families and individuals in Santa Clara County in their adapting to society and striving toward responsible self-sufficiency. We do this through teaching English, helping with job placement and retention, assisting with immigration issues, providing special programs for the elderly and youth (especially violence prevention programs), and hosting workshops about the law, health and family inter-relationships.
Programs: IRCC's largest program is TAP/RESS (Targeted Assistance/Refugee Employment Supportive Services Program teaching English and finding first jobs for newcomers, last year around 325 unduplicated clients). Other programs include an Information & Referral Hotline in Vietnamese, Election Information and Voter Registration drives, Naturalization Services, a program of outreach to the elderly in their homes, outreach to juvenile offenders incarcerated in the County facility, off-site English classes at workplaces and large apartment complexes, tobacco cessation programs since 1989, and assisting in the production of the largest Tet festival outside of Vietnam at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds for 18 years, sometimes taking a lead position in that production.
