Mission: To advance the effectiveness of business diversity initiatives among our respective utility companies, and to encourage diverse businesses to forge effective working relationships with utilities to help develop a strong economy and a productive environment for growth and access to diverse businesses.
Programs: Engagement. We have hosted several events in the past that served to match existing prime utility contractors with potential diverse subcontractors. Each of these events has involved 50-75 persons from the prime and subcontractors groups. We believe the success of these events had led to a substantial increase in diverse spending by our member companies.
best practices. We have had several internal events in the past that served as a forum for discussion and sharing of best practices in business diversity among our five member companies. Each of these events has involved 40-50 company employees from our member companies and we believe this emphasis on best practices had been a factor in our increased in diverse spending within our segment of the industry.
relationships. In 2017, we held one legislative reception and one reception honoring retired state utility regulatory commissioners. Approximately 50 people attending each reception. We believe these two events helped our companies to educate policymakers on the benefits of our organization and on how we are moving the ball forward on diversity in the state's utility industry.
