Mission: IDRA is an independent, non-profit organization that is dedicated to strengthening public schools to work for all children. Founded on principles of ensuring equality of educational opportunity for every child, IDRA's vanguard leadership, development, and research team works with others to create self-renewing schools that value and empower all children, families and communities.
Target demographics: The IDRA EAC-South specifically serves states and school districts in federal Region II: Alabama, Arkansas, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.
Geographic areas served: The Intercultural Development Research Association is an independent, non-profit organization. Our mission is to achieve equal educational opportunity for every child through strong public schools that prepare all students to access and succeed in college. IDRA strengthens and transforms public education by providing dynamic training; useful research, evaluation, and frameworks for action; timely policy analyses; and innovative materials and programs. We are committed to the IDRA valuing philosophy, respecting the knowledge and skills of the individuals we work with and build on the strengths of the students and parents in their schools.
Programs: The IDRA Valued Youth Partnership is a research-based, internationally-recognized dropout prevention program that has kept 98 percent of its tutors in school. Equity Connection is IDRA’s online Community of Practice where educators, researchers, parents and community members to discuss and take action to strengthen public schooling. Semillitas de Aprendizaje stems from research IDRA conducted on its Reading Early for Academic Development (READ) project, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, to establish in preschool centers “classrooms of excellence” that ensure reading, cognitive and emotional success for all preschool children through a print-rich environment with appropriate accommodations for children with disabilities.
