Mission: The institute's mission is to accelerate the adoption of integrated pest management in agriculture and communities by using the power of the marketplace.
Programs: In addition to other programs, the institute managed three major projects. The sustainable food group works on maintenance and auditing of food sustainability rating programs for various suppliers and produce supply chains. Development and maintenance of a pesticide risk tool (pesticiderisk. Org)--an innovative on-line tool that estimates risk of negative impacts on pesticide application with a goal of reducing adverse impacts on soil, water, and air quality; avian and aquatic life; beneficial organisms; and worker and consumer health and safety. The institute also works with funding from the great lakes protection fund, the national fish and wildlife foundation, epa and the national resources conservation service on the partnership for ag resource management project. This project works to improve management of our key soil, nutrient and crop-protection resources by keeping them on our cropland and out of our streams, rivers and lakes.
