In the last year the WASC has had one of the most profound influences on my life. Since getting our new advisor and joining the organization, Ive the had the opportunity to meet some of my closest friends and grow as both a student and a leader. I started my junior year with limited connections in our group, due to nearly two years apart due to covid. Through our wasc chants and leadership outings I made friends on all different paths of life, some going on to top universities across the country, some leading chapters across the state and others furthering the community of our own school. As a leader the WASC taught me to be comfortable in my identity and unafraid to ask for help, leading me to speaking roles I could have never imagined myself in otherwise. Needless to say the WASC has shaped my high school experience to set me up for future success with networking and other business skills needed in the real world.
WASC has changed my life in so many ways. It has made me more confident and given me a new look at the Student Council community.
Amazing group that has connected me with people across the state, built my confidence, and helped me become a better leader
I am currently serving my 5th year on the WASC's collaborative leadership council, and I could not be more grateful for the experience. With the WASC, I have gained confidence in sharing my opinion, which had been something I was quite nervous about doing. I have significantly improved my communication, conflict resolution, and goal-setting skills. It has been so meaningful to create leadership programming that has impacted students across the state. I have had the best time getting to know the other amazing leaders on the CLC, as well as the dedicated advisors.
WASC has only been beneficial to me, I've gotten to meet so many other leaders and learn from them. It really is a great experience.
The WASC is truly a life-changing organization. Not only have I seen myself, but my peers, classmates, friends, teachers, and advisors all grow in our leadership ability through the WASC. Whether it's the Fall Tour, to the Leadership Day w/Bucks to the camp, the WASC offers numerous opportunities to develop and grow as a leader.
WASC is one of the most effective educational leadership institutions out there. I have been a part of this council for about 4 years now and it has truly impacted my life. It has connected me with people who have influenced me in a more positive direction, opened up new opportunities for me, and given me people who I now have close friendships and bonds with.
The WASC is an organization with an impressive amount of passion and character at its center. I am constantly amazed by the quality of leadership development within its programming, and I always feel that my feedback is heard and respected. Beyond the educational aspect of leadership development, the WASC has built a strong sense of community among students leaders.
Even though this is my first year on CLC I feel very connected and welcomed. WASC does a fantastic job of giving young students a voice in their community. They are very accepting of all people and open to all different ideas. It allows students to be exposed to leadership opportunities in a way that they never had before. I have had a very positive experience with WASC.
I have been personally involved in this organization for almost three years now and I have thoroughly enjoyed finding myself in this organization each time i dedicate my time effort to a new cause. I would have never understood myself to level that I do today without the help of the WASC. To put it simply, the WASC impacts more students than many are aware of on a level that is unmatched by other organizations. The programs that the WASC runs are truly unique and impactful experiences each time. This organization is something that I strive to dedicate my time and effort to as often as I have the opportunity to do so. Thank you for providing this opportunities.
The WASC is an amazing organization that helps empower young student leaders to find their voice! Through WASC, I have met so many amazing people who have a determination to become a leader who instills change. This year, I have gotten the opportunity to be a part of WASC's Collaborative Leadership Council, where I can help shape other leaders and also develop my own leadership skills.
I love WASC because they have made me a better leader so now I can help people with leadership as well.
The WASC has helped me do things that I wouldn't have done otherwise. I know that if I hadn't join Student Council in 6th grade during covid, I know that I wouldn't have been able to grow my confidence as a person and also be someone that people can look up to if they need. This has also helped me do things in school that I wouldn't have done otherwise like forensics.
WASC is a good organization, that has really benefited my leadership skills just in the past year. They have really helped me grow as a leader and a person.
WASC has been one of the most influential organizations of my life. I have learned so much about myself throughout the 3 years I have been involved. I am also a part of the CLC (Collaborative Leadership Council). Here, I have been able to engage in discussions, learn more about WASC, and be a part of a group that creates a profound impact on student leaders.
In 5th grade, my student council advisor suggested that I should go to the WASC's summer camp; I loved it. This was the start of my journey with the WASC. In 6th grade, I went to the State Conference and ran for office. I won and became the Region IV VP. From there, I've gone to more camps, Fall Leadership Tours, and business meetings. The WASC changed my life for the better, and I couldn't be more supportive of the WASC. Now, I am serving my term as the Region IV Secretary, and I can't wait for the opportunities to come.
The WASC is a huge part of my life and I would not be where I am today without this great organization. They host extremely influential camps and events. If you have not been to a WASC event I greatly encourage you to look into it. I went to the level 1 leadership camp and I returned to my leadership groups energized and loaded with so many different leadership qualities I previously lacked. The WASC inspires so many people and other similar organizations. I love the WASC and all it does for students in and out of Wisconsin.
Joining Student Council, right up to the due date, I am so thankful how it has impacted me as a brother, a friend, and a leader. all of the great events that they have hosted have empowered me to reach out, and connect with the community. they have so many opportunities, you have to say why not, and they really helped me do that.
WASC is great. The only problem is that it can be somewhat of a burden to drive all that way but when you sign up for it you should know that.
I have experienced the WASC both from an inside and outside perspective. I have always been welcomed with positivity and love. I would recommend attending WASC events to all students and advisors. I have grown so many leadership skills, and built many lifelong friendships through this time. The WASC has such a big impact on our state, and I am incredibly proud of what the organization has become.
The WASC is more than just an organization, it is an experience. From Leadership Camp to Fall Tour it is an all-around experience that really teaches you how to be a leader in your life.
The WASC is Wisconsin's foremost student leadership organization. I am a proud Board Member and enjoy dedicating my time to this organization.
The WASC is simply one of the most phenomenal organizations ever! I got involved within the WASC during my junior and senior year of high school, and its one of the best decesions I have made! By attending WASC camp, it has not only given me valuable life lessons, but also has provided tremendous opportunities for any student/person to become a succesful leader. Something about the WASC experience is undescribable in a good way! It creates a safe and clear vision for who ever attends!
I went to the WASC camp and it was a fantastic experience. Being a part of the WASC has been one of the things that has kept me going throughout the past year. I look forward to every event and know that I will take away something that will stick with me for the rest of my life. I love WASC!!! :)
WASC has made my past year exceptional. I have grown a lot as a person and have found my voice in my school!
I have met some of the most important & influential people in my life through this organization. The lessons I have learned as well as these connections have contributed to my successes and leadership journey.
As an advisor and advocate for student leadership, being involved with this organization is my #1 priority for not just my students but my family and friends. This organization brings the BEST out of EVERYONE and allows people to be entirely themselves as they grow their leadership skills.
By far the most effective leadership organization in the state--even country. We happily pay to send our Senate officers to camp every year as well as the full Senate to the Fall Leadership Tour. The students come back energized and ready to effect positive change in their school and community!
Some of the best people I've ever met! I've created friendships with people that I love to this day - all thanks to my time at camp!
Life-changing organization. Attended the leadership camp over 20 years ago, and I still credit this organization for my success as an adult. It has helped me with my self-confidence and I can't wait to send my children to camp and the WASC's other programs!
The WASC creates incredible experiences for kids. I am an alumni who is excited to see the changes being made, and I cannot wait to send my children someday!
Year after year the WASC continues to find new ways to impact student leaders in Wisconsin. As one of the oldest student leadership groups in the country, it has a tremendous history that still continues to make a difference.
The WASC has and continues to have an incredible impact on my life. I first started involvement in WASC in 6th grade by attending the WASC Summer Leadership Camps, as well as conferences throughout the state. These types of programs help build additional skills that were typically not focused on day-to-day in the classroom.
The organization has helped me form relationships with incredible people all over the country! Friends from WASC are my closest support group, my motivators, and my mentors for whatever my next step may be.
Today, I have been volunteering on the camp staff for the past eight years, supporting the next generation of leaders in Wisconsin.
My participation in WASC as a middle and high school student was one of the most influential experiences in my teen years. It helped me understand what it meant to be a healthy leader and how to develop leadership skills in others. It offered me a fun way to build relationships with peers from across the state who shared my interests and gave me confidence to begin using my leadership skills in my school, church and community. Today, 30 years later, I am a better leader in my work and personal life because of the foundational skills I learned through WASC.
WASC is an amazing program that gives people the ability to learn about being a leader while also learning about themselves along the way. WASC is an extremely welcoming community for all ages and has various different activities throughout the year.
As a mother, and a Student Council Advisor, I can say that WASC provides leadership opportunities that lead young adults to greater success in life! Having been a Counselor at the WASC camp, I’ve seen first hand the “magic” that every one of my Student Council members who attended, and my own two children, describe. It truly provides a space where students are accepted as who they are, and allows them to gain confidence in their leadership skills.
This organization really helped me further develop my leadership skills. The advisors really demonstrated what a good leader should look like so it was easy to learn from their guidance. The skills I picked up while being apart of this organization were easily transferable to other parts in my life. I was able to act as a positive role model in theatre and choir and provide guidance when needed. It also helped me excel in my classes. The communication skills I developed helped me better connect to my teachers and even my fellow students.
I attended WASC camp when I was in middle school 30 years ago, and to this day I still see the impact it makes on my life. This is a wonderful organization that puts kids first, and works hard to demonstrate the importance of developing the next generation of leaders.
As a sophomore in high school, I was very apprehensive toward getting involved with the WASC. However, my week at WASC camp initiated me returning nine more times, twice as a camper and seven weeks on staff. This organization literally introduced me to my best friends. Despite living around the state of Wisconsin, their families became my second families and their homes my second homes. I have traveled the country with these people and they have made me the successful and confident man I am today. In a world induced by artificial, short-term, dopamine-driven happiness, the WASC is the first step for teenagers hoping to lead a genuinely fulfilling life surrounded by a solid network of deep relationships. Get involved!
I have been involved with the WASC for over 20 years. After attending a variety of its programs as both a student and an adult volunteer I can wholeheartedly say that I have seen and experienced the positive impact this organization has on student leaders in Wisconsin. The WASC provides opportunities for students to learn and practice real-world, practical skills in an encouraging and safe environment. I've seen students become more confident, better communicators, and better able to work with others after attending WASC programming. It’s clear that this organization prioritizes the needs of students and works to amplify the student voice in meaningful ways across the state. I will absolutely send my own children through its programs.
Volunteering for and being part of the Wisconsin Association of School Councils (WASC) has changed my life in the best ways possible. Through my experience with the WASC, I gained leadership skills and self-confidence in a safe and engaging environment. I would not be the teacher, advisor, parent, wife, or even friend that I am today without the WASC.
