Mission: Our mission is to provide access to high quality musical instruction and performance opportunities to families of our culturally diverse communities in Chicago.
Results: The Hyde Park Suzuki Institute is the only music school on Chicago's South side that intentionally prepares students for college readiness through music. After years of study, In 2014, our Alumni and high school graduates matriculated to Juilliard, Curtiss, Princeton, Pamona, Univ of Illinois, and Berkley on partial or full scholarships. We have a 100% graduation rate and college acceptance.
Target demographics: Chicago's culturally and economically diverse communities
Direct beneficiaries per year: 500 students and parents through musical instruction in the Suzuki method, families come together several times per week to attend classes. Parent participation is required and necessary for the child to succeed. Because of 100% parent participation and attendance, an organic community is formed made up of families of culturally diverse backgrounds, but common goals for their children.
Geographic areas served: Chicago metropolatin area
Programs: instruction in violin, viola, cello, piano, guitar and string bass for children aged 3 and up.
