Mission: Helping citizens learn of the contributions made to the settlement and development of our community by early pioneers to western new york region and preserving and restoring the hull family home and farmstead.
Programs: The organization was successfully in its efforts to apply for a grant to restore a cemetery that is located on the historic hull house property. The cemetery is the burial site of several hull family members. The grant was awarded from the national chapter of the dar (daughters o the american revolution) and is restricted for cemetery conservation. Actual conservation work will commence in 2015.
following many long years of interior restoration work, the organization passed a milestone by announcing completion of substantially all interior restoration, including all plastering. Only some interior wall, ceiling, and floor finishes remain to be completed. The final steps of interior lighting and hardware fixtures are yet to be completed but are expected to be acquired in 2015.
the exterior work of conducting archeology and cultural landscape surveys was in full swing during 2014. The state university of new york at buffalo department of anthropology (archaeology survey division) continued its work on phase two (of three) of the 150,000 contract. The work is necessary to identify possible building foundations and the arrangement of buildings on the property in the 1815 to 1825 era is critical to the exterior restoration work that is the next critical phase our long term master plan. Exterior site survey work also includes a cultural landscape survey started in 2014 and expected to be completed in 2015.
