Mission: The organization is a membership-based, statewide association of affordable housing and community development organizations that provide housing and economic opportunity for working families, people with disabilities, seniors and others struggling to meet their needs in communities throughout oregon.
Programs: Industry support - the organization provides our members with best practice development, training and technical assistance and peer networking. We convene six working groups: fiscal management; homeownership development; homeownership education and counseling; multifamily development; property and asset management; and resident services. We also hold twice-yearly industry support conferences with the above tracks of training; 96% of participants say they improved their skills or learned new skills necessary to do their work.
public policy - the organization advocates for and coordinates appropriate and effective policy, and builds relationships of efficiency and strength with public and private industry partners. We convene state and portland policy councils that focus on reducing barriers to community development, and provide recommendations to government and regulatory agencies. We advocate for increased funding for community development and against policies harmful to affordable housing development through active involvement with the housing alliance, and by working with a lobbyist.
