Constructing hope gave me a second chance at life.. the staff and my class are like a second family. I got support and encouragement throughout my experience with constructing hope from staff and students and I'm still being supported till this day.. wonderful learning environment, wonderful mentors and staff. I learned so much that I will remember forever. It's a once and a life changing experience. That I encourage anybody who is looking to get into a trade to experience. Take the challenge and push yourself to limits you never thought you would go and watch your life open up in away that will effect your whole family. My nephew is enrolling soon he saw my drive and decided he needed a change, and that is what it is all about!

Constructing Hope saved my life honestly. I was spiraling with drugs and lost my house. Living with family, moving wherever we had to. Now we got our own place and I make more than 3x my rent by myself. Second baby on the way, and about to SPOIL the hell out of everyone who helped us and my kids. If you show up. If you get clean. You can change your life. I'm proof!

I was struggling just to pay my bills for months with no direction. Not only did Constructing Hope help me on the path to the exceptions list at the plumbers union, but the experience gave me a strong sense of community and motivation to do more with my life. Strongly recommend trying this program even if you don’t think you’re “cut out” for construction trades, you may be surprised through the Constructing Hope experience!

Constructing hope is just how it sounds! This organization is the key for a foundation. I didn't know much about this organization until my fiance told me to apply so I did and I learned so much about myself. From the hands on training, the monday morning choices with Ms Maddie is just amazing. These things that this organization helps people with is extraordinary. No matter what your background looks like. Constructing hope is a blessing and I am forever grateful for the staff and Ms Patt Daniels.
Not only do i have contact with the staff even though i graduated this organization is still helping me with alot of things like gas cards etc. This is where it's at!!!!
I had the greatest pleasure coming in this morning and telling my story to the next cohort.

I was unfairly let go from a job after almost 3 years with them and was there hardest worker. i didn't know what i was going to do because that was the only job i had in years due to my previous drug addiction. SE Works refereed me to Constructing Hope. I was so surprised to find out all the resources the either offer or know where to send you to get what you need.
In the 10 week program at Constructing Hope i got my license back, talked to the lawyer they connect you with to help get my record expunge, I got 7 certifications, (including HAZWAPER $7000), Union Portfolio.
Constructing Hope Graduation gives you 8 points towards union credit. You also get direct entry into several unions. The class is surprisingly fun, better than you would expect, it's like a little family. Once you graduate you are a part of the Constructing Hope support system for two years.

Anthony mcgregor constructing hope means to me a new beginning. It does exactly what the name says by Conatructing Hope inside of each individual for those of us with checkered histories. Like me I was released form prison in early 2022
amd applied to many places and they wouldn't look at me twice due to my past. The day I met Irving Brown the instructor and met and talked to him for a couple hours i knew this is where I needed to be. They have done everything that I cold have dreamed about and go above and beyond to help us achieve our goals. You have to be ready to change your life and work for what you need to do that. Whatever obstacle is in front of you Constructuring Hope is there to help you overcome the barriors. When all you have gotten is closed doors now all I see is opend doors and a bright future. Constructing Hope is one of the best things that has ever happened to me and they are purely there to help. I would recommend this program to anyone that is fed up and ready to make a change for good. The staff and program is amazing. I can't say enough about the everyone . I truly appreciate and value each and everyone of you. .

Constructing Hope was one of the greatest blessings I ever received and I still receive.
I came out of prison feeling like I have nothing to offer on the labor market. And thinking the only option I have is to trade my health and time for little money.
Constructing Hope showed me I was wrong on both accounts.
Today I have a fulfilling career with a great company. I have confidence, skills and community I can count on in case of any upsets. I have a self esteem and reason not to reoffend.
My family is better off, my employer happy, I give back to my community and pay more in taxes. Everyone wins because of my experience in Constructing Hope.

I have been on the board for Constructing Hope for 3+ years. In that time I have seen the positive change that this nonprofit has had on our community. You heard the stories all the time, but when you see a program change a person's life or the smile on their faces when announcing which union they will be joining or the support the other cohorts give each other it's impossible not to be energized about this program.

Constructing Hope and their knowledgeable and professional staff literally changed my life. When I began as a student in the program I was unemployed, near eviction, and at my wits end. I knew the program has the potential to do great things for my future so I committed to doing my best in the program even though I had immediate financial needs that were pressing on me daily. I was on parole and needed to find a feasible road to self sufficiency. While in the program one of the staff linked me with a gas station manager she knew. I was hired part-time at the gas station and worked a second job as a bartender while in the program. I entered the electrical trade upon completion of the program. Within 6 months of working in construction I was making more money than I had at both of my part time jobs combined. I had a full benefit package and the chance at a brand new life. Now 5yrs after entering my electrical apprenticeship I'm 6 mos. from becoming a licensed electrician, earning more money than I ever have, with a fully expunged record and I give credit to Constructing Hope for making this all possible. Their support didn't stop at my graduation. They have continued to support me during my whole career. They are a great organization that is truly changing the lives of their students!!

Constructing Hope Pre- Apprenticeship Training Program is a beacon of Light and "HOPE!"
Targeting undeserved communities, People of Color and previously incarcerated men and women, marginalized people, Youth and unskilled Young Adults Construction Hope offers Skilled training in the Construction Industry that lead to a 'Living Wage ' Career that could otherwise be unattainable to them. Champions of embracing the belief and values of 'providing 'A Second Chance,' Constructing Hope provided Wrap-around Services and on-going support and alumni affiliation that are imperative to providing a person with an "Real" opportunity to succeed, advance and become a productive contributing member of society, capable of providing for their family.
I have personally witnessed the long hours, dedication and commitment of Patricia Daniels (Pat) to this work and organization for over a decade from her early beginnings as the receptionist for this organization while possessing a Master's Degree. When the organization fell on hard times Pat refused to let it die. She became the CEO, raised money, and cultivated an outstanding Board of Directors that are as committed to the vision, mission and values of this organization as she is. I met countless people whose lives were transformed by graduating from Constructing Hope Pre-Apprenticeship Training Program and going on to become skilled Craftsmen and Women in the Construction Trades. One of them was my own Grandson! This program gives people Pride! Dignity! Skills! And HOPE!

I have known Pat since she was support staff at Irvington Covenant. She assisted the director at that time with everything the program offered. I recall how motivated she was then to make sure students were being served properly. When that program went under, Pat didn't pause for even a minute. She took over the responsibility to continue serving the same population she serves today. That was over 10 years ago and she has never looked back. Pat started out with little to no funding but has developed the program into a sustainable model for serving the community. Pat's legacy is hundreds of underserved, fresh out of incarceration, recovering individuals who now have a new lease on life. She offers hands-on training, life skills education, and wrap-around services to prepare them for a career in the construction trades.

My initial impressions were worth five stars, although I'm viewing all of this from a distance down in Medford and I have not participated in the program. Active communication with interested veterans like myself has been a one-star experience, if that.

I've registered for your email community I've called and left voicemails and I've only had one contact with someone who's voicemail does not work and whose phone eventually was deemed unreachable or out of service.

I'm eager to understand what the plans are moving forward from the coronavirus crippling. I would imagine that you've continued to work but for some reason you seem to have discontinued communication.

I'm working a job provided to me rather easily by the veterans administration but I plan to be moving back to Portland from southern Oregon around the end of November. --Chet Knight

Fresh out of high school I felt like my only option was to go to college or be working minimum wage the rest of my life. Having only barely graduated this was a bleak look for me, until my shop teacher gave me some resources to look into Constructing Hope. As soon as I read about trade schools and Constructing Hope’s mission I knew it was for me, while attending their pre-apprenticeship program I was so supported and encouraged to find a career that I’d love. They were there around the clock helping with not only information and studies but also food, jobs, tools, clothes, not to mention networking and giving us a real tasting platter of all the trades. Plus I’ve made connections there that will last me throughout my career, I am so thankful for everything they do.

Five years ago, I was a heroin addict who was literally living on the streets and one day I decided to do something different. I checked myself into rehab and started doing the program of AA like my life depended on it. After a year clean, I found out about Constructing Hope, a place where people like me who had been in trouble with the law before, could go and change their lives and have a career if they were willing to put in the work. Ten weeks later, I stood on the stage, getting ready to graduate. I joined Local 1503, the Carpenters Union, the following Monday, and life has been an upward trajectory since then. I have helped build schools, bridges, subway stops, and parking garages so far and am now living in Las Vegas getting ready to do the MSG Sphere. Life is good. You see, as an addict in recovery, I knew that I could have a good life, but I didn't know how good it could be until I went through Constructing Hope. As I went through that program, I gained confidence, ability, and knowledge of the trades, but also I leaned about how I also have a larger responsibility to the communities in which I live, and how I can make those communities better by volunteering at various places. I learned that not through rhetoric, but by their example, and have since met other graduates of Constructing Hope out on the job site and they feel the same way. It is a marvelous thing to see the lives of others transformed by this amazing organization and I will forever be in debt to them.

My name is Kyle barnes and I am a constructing hope graduate. Before joining the pre apprenticeship program I worked a dead end job with no room to grow or make more money. Constructing hope has layed the foundation for young youth and anyone to change there lives. I am now a 1503 union carpenter and make 27 an hour base pay plus an incredible benefits package on top. With room to advance and grow my skills, the sky really is the limit. I regret not joining constructing hope much sooner in life but its ok. My career is established and I owe constructing hope a great deal for giving me the opportunity.

The customer service is above and beyond outstanding. They care about participants and are committed to the success of everyone. There are not any programs that I know of that provide this level of support during and after a program. Reach out to them and I guarantee you will be impressed!

4-time convict, it was learning a trade that changed my mind and taught me lessons that I used when I created the Dave’s Killer Bread brand. When I discovered Constructing Hope, I knew that the organization is a game changer for folks seeking a second chance in life. I have since become a major supporter of theirs and I let people know about them every chance I get.

Thanks to Constructing Hope from the bottom of my heart!!

Dave

Executive Director Pat Daniels is a passionate and thoughtful community leader whose commitment to changing lives by providing job training and opportunities to those most in need is inspiring! At Andersen Construction we believe in the programming of Constructing Hope as we know firsthand the benefits of a career in construction, and after seeing Pat speak we were moved to help further the mission of Constructing Hope. We have supported the program financially, and hope to grow our partnership to include giving volunteer hours and job-site tours. We can’t wait to be a part of the journey with Constructing Hope students!

I was involved with Constructing Hope back in 2007 helping them get their Oregon State Certification for their pre-apprenticeship program. With that certification came acceptance by most construction unions to accept their graduates straight into their apprenticeship program.

Since they started their construction curriculum program, they have helped over 1000 people change their lives and begin making a family wage in the construction trades. Pat Daniels and her staff inspire me and those around her to do more for the people and local community. Please join me in supporting their cause.
