Mission: We believe that everyone, no matter their background, deserves beauty, respect and the opportunity to learn in a safe space. When provided with these, the undeserved will become world-class, productive citizens.
Programs: The organization plans to improve education in mercer and lawrence counties in western pennsylvania and trumbull and mahoning counties in eastern ohio by offering after school visual arts programs to high school students which will supplement the education the students are receiving in the traditional classroom. With the school districts' support and collaboration, the organization will provide an additional piece of the web of support for students at risk of not graduating on time. A key aspect of the programming is that of engagement techniques and mentorship. Students are able to explore ideas and unleash their creativity in a world class facility filled with light and art that they might not otherwise have encountered. The hope center will connect students to their community through trips to museums, colleges, and even forgotten facets of the surrounding community. Over time, this will equip students to imagine a future life that is different than the one they are currently living, and provide hope. In october 2015, the organization started a pilot youth program in collaboration with the shenango campus of penn state university, and continued that program in the fall of 2016 and spring of 2017. The pilot program, which focused on the ceramics aspect of the youth arts program, was available to farrell, pennsylvania school students. The program benefitted 22 students, and the hope center looks to expand to additional classes throughout 2017 and 2018. This has allowed the organization to develop curriculum, build relationships with instructors and other artists, and build support and awareness in the community.
