Mission: Working in cooperation and coordination with pediatric oncologists, psychologists and social workers, HFCC assists these children and their families by:* funding and supporting existing hospital-based psychosocial programs specifically targeting and identifying the needs and issues faced by children diagnosed with cancer and their families* creating an awareness of the emotional issues faced by children and their families dealing with cancer and assisting or advising hospitals and pediatric cancer centers in the development and implementation of "family-friendly" cancer programs and treatment environments* working together with local schools and hospital personnel, providing educational programs for school faculty and students to increase their understanding of the disease and encourage social support for these patients and their siblings during and post-treatment* Raising public awareness of the social and emotional impact of pediatric cancer on the local community beyond simply the affected families
