Mission: Homemaker Services of Idaho, Inc., is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 1994, by the Executive Director, Deborha McCullough. Deborha was employed with the Area VI Agency on Aging for approximately 11 years. She started out as a part time Homemaker herself and became Director of the Homemaker Program. In 1994 she decided to go out on her own to enable growth within the services already being provided in the Homemaker Program and to meet unmet needs of those clients. Since 1994, we have expanded our services by adding the Respite Program, the Outreach Program, and some private pay services such as Chore, Attendant Care and housekeeping. There has not been an increase in funding in our Homemaker Program for about 5 years and there is a waiting list in all nine counties. This is the reason we added the Private Pay services, to help fund current programs. We are in need of additional funding, grants and donations. Our senior population is growing rapidly and these programs are under funded. We are not able to keep up with the demand. By providing these in home services we can prevent premature placement into nursing homes or care facilities. It is also proven that these in home services are more cost effective. The clients are happier and have a better quality of life if they can remain in their own homes and communities.
