I regretfully would like to file a complaint regarding the personnel at the Bay Area Blvd. PetSmart, I understand it’s outsourced through Homeless Pet Placement League, but the experience was devastating to our child. It was during the pet adoption process there was a kitten my son fell head over heels in love with. He was visiting my sister and mother during this time and plan was to surprise him with a new family member. Before entering, my sister asked if it was acceptable for them to sign if they were to proceed with the adoption process. They were informed “yes, no problem at all.” As he found the one to make a part of our family, my sister began filling out the paperwork before a women (who refused to give her name but others were happy to oblige from other complaints) named Anne (mature women with gray bun). After an hour and half of filling out paperwork and the excitement of picking out all the fun things a cat could hope for, she spoke with myself on the phone to ensure I was in fact alright with the adoption, but after her invasive questions such as making sure myself and my husband own our own home, she said she needed to speak with her colleague. I’ll be honest, I felt she was searching for a reason to say no, with pauses trying to articulate her next question since he was going to home with children. It’s my first encounter with this adoption agency and I hope it’s not a scam to how it’s represent. Other families at the same time were experiencing similar treatment and appalled by the outcome of the situation. I hope this situation can be rectified so no more children can have their hearts broken and the animals can find a good home!
