Causes: Homeless & Housing, Housing Expense Reduction Support
Mission: To assist low to moderate income home buyers in hawaii with down payment assistance, and affordable financing.
Programs: Hhoc mortgage (hhocm) strives to serve its primary mission of serving the low/moderate income, first-time home buyers by providing them with the most affordable financing program(s) available to them. Additionally, hhocm's purpose is to generate excess revenues to assist in sustaining its affiliate, hawaii homeownership center. In 2017, hhocm successfully assisted 16 home buyer families with down payment second mortgages amounting to $767,845. Over our seven years existence, we have cumulatively helped 114 home-buyers with loans totaling $5,141,499. Successful completion of a home buyer education course administered by a hud-approved counseling agency is required prior to loan closing. This is an important piece to our success as we have yet to experience a single 30 day delinquency since program inception in 2010. During 2017 hhocm originated 76 first mortgages totalling $31,085,335 to low and moderate income home buyers. In 2017, hhocm referred 37 borrowers and their family members to affiliate hawaii homeownership center, a hud-approved agency. Members who opted to join the center experienced an increase in personal financial knowledge and consumer confidence.
