Causes: Emergency Assistance, Human Services
Mission: To provide aid and assistance in the form of money, clothing, household goods, food, and other types of assistance to either (i) selected familes experiencing economic struggles or unexpected tragedy or illnesses or (ii) to organizations which assist families or individuals in need.
Programs: Helping partners was originally formed to assist glen raven employees with financial hardships, but have broadened our scope to include the communities within alamance county. Mostly we work with the abss social workers to provide assistance to families with children in the school system. These combined efforts include paying duke energy payments, rent/mortgage payments to prevent eviction, contributing to funeral expenses and burial plots, insurance premiums, house fire victims, flood victims, and providing food and clothing assisting 27 families in all. Our large projects each year are school supply drives and christmas cheer. The school supplies go directly to alamance citizens for education (ace)classroom closet, and alamance chamber of commerce. Each of these have a yearly school supply drive and we ask for donations of school supplies. We also made a donation of canned goods to allied churches of alamance county, and to the food pantry from cans collected during an event at the local mall. Our annual christmas cheer project is where we adopt families totaling about 30 children, and ask for donations of items on the children"s wish lists. The items are delivered to the local christmas cheer office for pickup, or we deliver directly to families.
