I love the way they serve families and treat them so well. They truly believe that homelessness is a symptom of the problems and that helping the individuals grow is what really ends the cycle of poverty.

The Helping Hands House is a wonderful nonprofit! As a volunteer I see how much they truly care about the families they help. Everyone is friendly, warm and excited about what their roles are, either as a colunteer or employee. Seeing this kind of commitment, from the directors down to the people that help with stocking food and toys, makes me very proud to be associated with such a wonderful organization!

I absolutely LOVE Helping Hand House and supporting their efforts. This is a program that not only takes in/helps families in need but puts them into a program that supplies them with the tools to get on their own once again through financial planning, employment and healthy choices.

Having my children join in as we helped Helping Hand House to create Easter baskets for families as well as household items was a wonderful way to open lines of communication about the power of giving and helping others. It allowed all of us to get that "We are all God's children and we need to help pull each other up when one of us is down" feeling. The people at Helping Hand House were wonderful. I think their work is extremely valuable to the folks they serve!

Volunteering with Helping Hand House I see the people working together, caring for the families they help. They give families the tools to move from surviving on the street to living in a home and getting back on their feet, so they can stay on their feet. Pierce County is Blessed to have Helping Hand House. I am updating my review. Recently Helping Hand House has laid off/fired some dedicated, loyal, overworked & underpaid employees. I do not see how they can still provide the outstanding services they were known for, therefore I do not consider them great, good but not great.

Helping Hand House is a dedicated non profit that is committed to providing housing and services for families that are homeless. The programs at Helping Hand House go beyond just providing a roof they include case management services, employment and job search help, and teaching financial literacy. This agency also has a group of dedicated volunteers and local support that are passionate about helping homeless families. Helping Hand House provides programs that help families in their greatest time of need, some of which are recognized nationally. As a board member and volunteer it is such a great pleasure to work with such a dedicated group of staff and volunteers. This program is truly an example of what an effective program for addressing homeless families and some of our most vulnerable population can do. This program makes a difference in families lives and creates a positive outcome for all families who receive services. They are numerous examples of family members finding jobs aftering getting some support from this program. The children that are part of these families are also greatly impacted by the work that is done by Helping Hand House. They are some great success stories including the story of single mother with two boys who graduated from Helping Hand House. The two boys both recieved scholarships while they were in the Helping Hand House program. Without the support of a program like this for families children can be greatly impacted in the areas of both learning and behavior. For children to have the best chance at success they need a stable environment which includes having a shelter. With Helping Hand House though the services go beyond just having a shelter. The services include volunteers helping with recognizing childrens birthdays with a cake and gifts. Some of the children in the program have never had these things prior to the family coming to the organization for help. The employment program helps working parent find jobs and assists with job search and resumes. They also conduct interview skills training and education. The list of success this program shows and does everyday goes on. It is the passion of it's staff, community, and volunteers that is make it the most successful.

My experience since becoming a board member has been phenomonal. I knew of HHH in a broad sense prior to joining the board, but did not know much about the details of what they do. The staff in particular has impressed me with their dedication to their programs and the effort they put forth for each individual family they work with. They are well organized, well lead, and should serve as an example of what an effective non-profit organization could strive to be.

My role with Helping Hand House is to help provide birthday and Christmas gifts for families. No child should ever go without a present on their birthday or for Christmas and HHH takes special care to ensure that doesn't happen.

My church group and I were looking for a charity activity we could do. We were only having this group for a short time and needed something that we could do quickly and easily. Helping Hand house makes volunteering so easy. They have several different options from cleaning to holiday gift baskets. My group really enjoyed the experience working with their knowlegable staff, and knowing that we were making a real difference in the lives of people in need. I think that this is a very worthwhile organization and am glad I was able to do a small part to help with the mission of Helping Hand house.

Helping Hand House provides comprehensive services to their clients. Besides housing solutions, staff works with each family independently to empower them to be economic sustainability. Besides the great work that the staff does on behalf of their clients, the organization is run efficiently and is accountable for all investments made from donors to support their mission. I am proud to support the work of Helping Hand House through volunteering and financial investments.

Our quilt group makes quilts for the beds of the families. We attended a breakfast fundraiser and toured the offices and learned about the programs. I was so impressed that my husband and I decided Helping Hand House would get a large chunk of our charitable contributions. I also met a young woman who received help from HHH and found out she was the daughter of an acquaintance. It's great to hear how her life has turned around. This group is transitional housing for homeless "families" and helps the families with food, shelter, budgeting, job training, and job placement. It's no free ride; they learn what's necessary to survive and keep themselves away from homelessness in the future.

Without the aid of Helping Hand House, my son and I probably would not have made it through the rough time we did. But now we are on our own again, and doing well. I've seen the help they do, I've been one of the lives they have saved. I do everything I can now to help them as any way I can to pay it forward to others.

My Sisters and I have adopted a house we clean between families. Helping Hand House provides shelter and food for those that would otherwise be sleeping outside in the rain and cold! They also provide training for parents to make better choices.

Helping Hand House is a wonderful organization. I volunteer by baking cakes for a couple of children every month. I support HHH because I feel they are helping people help themselves rather than just giving hand outs. I know that their work goes to bettering people for a lifetime and not just a short time. They hold classes to equip their families with the tools to move forward and be successful. A couple of the classes I have heard about are food canning and financial planning. This organization is one that I would support especially given this current economic state where people are losing their jobs and homes. HHH will ensure those people find both and hold onto them.

I have been a Board Member or volunteer for Helping Hand House over the past 15 years or more. I truly realized the value of HHH, a few years ago, when I was delivering a Christmas food/gift basket to a family who had just bought a home, with the assistance of HHH. HHH keeps in touch with our families, even after they are out of the program. The father, his wife and their 9 children were thrilled to finally own their own home. His children helped me carry the boxes into their home and, when everything was inside the house, the man walked me out to my car and, as we were saying goodbye, he handed me a $100 bill and told me to use it in the work of HHH. I was startled, not sure if I should accept it, but realizing it would be an insult if I didn't. Then he told me his story and he was so happy that now he could be the one helping others in the community. At that moment I understood what Helping Hand House does for our families in need and for our community. Helping Hand House brings hope to the families we help and gives community members and groups a way to lend a hand to our neighbors in need. HHH is a blessing to our area.

I've volunteered for Helping Hand House several times over the past year, and it's been a great experience every time. Sometimes it's getting a house ready for a new family to move into, or helping with yard work on a house where a family is living, or even providing supplies for Easter baskets or Thanksgiving dinner. I love what HHH does and their mission, and I enjoy being a part of helping homeless families transition into self-sustainablity.

I have observed Helping Hand House since its inception, I am impressed with the growth it has made and the way it has changed lives. We often forget that many are one paycheck away from being homeless and we are there for them, especially those with families. I am currently on about 6-8 boards and this is one of the most satisfying. I believe that my service on the board and my financial contributions help give people a hand up. The case management component, gives help and hope, beyond just a place to live. It gets them on the road to job opportunities and back to a more normal life. Bob Dalton

I have been a leader in the Boy Scouts of America for 8 years and have had our scouts donate to Helping Hand House for 7 of those years. The scouts really enjoy helping out this great organization, especially when they hear how families have greatly imroved their lives. The Helping Hand House is doing things our government cannot do, and that is to help get families back on their feet. Through the Helping Hand House we are able to touch so many kids lives and make a difference.

Helping Hand House is truly focused on preventing and ending family homelessness. Did you know the average age of a homeless person in America is 9 years old? One main requirement to be considered into the different programs is that there be a child under the age of 18 in the family seeking help. HHH is recognized as a model organization nationally for the effectiveness of the programs. Families are not given hand outs but hand ups! There are requirements of going to school and working enough to eventually pay 100% of the cost of housing. The greatest gifts I have witnessed these families receive are hope, confidence, and support. I am fortunate to be a part of this amazing organization and cause.

Volunteering over the last 5 years, I continue to be impressed by the work and success of this organization! Helping Hand House offers compassionate encouragement to families in crisis, while holding their clients accountable for achieving defined program goals and specific, individual goals. They do this by providing intensive case management, education, employment counseling and a wide spectrum of wrap around services tailored to the specific needs of each family. The entire staff and board are enthusiastic, professional and committed to the success of Helping Hand House. I am so proud to play a small part in this organization, which has the distinction of being a nationally recognized model for their innovative programs and level of success.

Helping Hand House is a great organization that provides more than just housing and support for homeless families. They have programs that are designed to teach the families how to become self sufficient and also recognize the need for self care in order to obtain their goals. I have worked with the HHH for 6 years and I am always amazed at the outcome of their work each time I attend meetings and hear the success stories. As a board member and a resident in the community that they serve, it is with great pride that I recognize their support to families through out Pierce County.

Helping Hand House is a fantastic organization - between the incredible love and care for the families (evident in their personal stories of encouragement and respect at the annual breakfast and family banquet), and the integrity of the staff I've been in contact with, I couldn't be more pleased to be a part of the work with them. I had no idea how many families are homeless, but to see the way these folks work alongside families to 'ensure they are never homeless again'...it's more than a leg up, it's transformation. Four stars, Helping Hand House!
