Hello, I am addressing you as a mother with my despair, but at the same time with hope. I will tell you a story about one boy: in Ukraine, in the city of Vinnitsa, on November 27, 2012, in one loving couple, a beautiful boy was born, they named him Vladik. Everything was fine, the boy grew up smart, active, always received compliments about his beautiful eyes and very pleased his parents with his talents.
When Vladik was two and a half years old, he had a brother Maxim, the family was feeling so great and happy. But came the day that turned the life of the family before and after: an ordinary, seemingly spring day, Vladik was then five and a half years old, he began to complain of severe abdominal pain and high fever. And so it began: doctors, tests, examination and the phrase: "Your son has cancer", and then everything is like in a mist and severe pain that cannot be conveyed by any words.
There were many questions then: Why? How? What to do? What is it for? But having gathered our last strength, we were able to accept this terrible news and with faith in healing Vladik's treatment began. We were treated in a Turkish clinic, as we were told that is was the 4th stage and the tumor was 13 cm, the diagnosis was Burkitt's lymphoma. These were the most difficult seven months in Vladik's life, he was far from home, from his brother, he felt severe pain and underwent six blocks of high-dose chemotherapy.
And finally we received from the doctors such a long-awaited and desired word "remission" and a week before Vladik's birthday, we flew home. Our life became completely different, at first we tried not to go anywhere, we were constantly wearing masks, we often did the cleaning and every month, along with fear, we looked at the results of tests and examinations.
Fear had settled in our hearts forever, but time passed, Vladik began to return to normal life, he even went to first grade, but the training was at home, since contacts were still dangerous for a weak immune system. Every day we had more hope and faith that everything is behind us. Now Vladik is eight years old, he has grown up and matured, he understands everything and when the headaches began he immediately told me about it.
Of course, we were worried, but we still thought that more than 2 years had passed and this was not lymphoma. But after examination and surgery to remove the tumor that was found in the head, the histology result surprised everyone - it turned out to be not only lymphoma, but a malignant brain tumor - medulloblastoma.
Again, cancer, only a different type, is such a rare occurrence that a child who has recovered from one type of cancer does not have a relapse, but another cancer, that there are only a few such people in the world. Doctors suggest that we mustn’t give up and continue the fight for Vladik's life, but as you know, treatment abroad costs a lot of money, and we have a long-term treatment that will consist of radiotherapy and chemotherapy, the first stage - we have already gone through the operation. Therefore, we ask you for any possible financial assistance and hope for your support. All documents are attached.E-mail: vikamv@ukr.net
