Causes: Health, Nursing

Mission: A nonprofit service organization, supporting communities through educational programs, support services, research and development in health care and economic expansion.

Programs: Health link services provides several services to the community. Health link services has a community based pa state approved nurse aide training program. This program is free to members of our community. We also have contractual agreements with a local hospital and two long term care facilities. West central job partnership recognizes health link services as a training provider. The nurse aide training program is offered monthly except for august and december. Only 10 applicants can be accepted in the program (department of education regulation) and on average, 7 students graduate from the program successfully. The program is designed to prepare individuals for the pa state competency exam. The graduates are eligible for employment at any healthcare facility provided they take and pass the pa state exam within 120 days of the first day of employment. Health link services statistics regarding the pass rate of our graduates is consistently above state average. Health link services has been surveyed every two years by the pa dept. Of education and has never received a citation, only commendations. It is not unusual for our graduates to continue his/her education to become a licensed nurse. Health link services also provides health related education training programs to long term care facilities, educational seminars for healthcare professionals and paraprofessionals, survey preparedness for the ltc industry and risk management/quality assurance consulting. Health link services also developed and is the facilitator of the mercer county nurse consortium. Health link services also participates on several community organizations as an active member, such as the state health improvement plan, communities that care, county pandemic influenza committee, minority health and other organizations.

As a Nursing Home Administrator I know the importance of having well trained, competent, and compassionate employees. The graduates of the Health Link Services Nursing Assistant program have all of the above qualities and more. I never hesitate to consider a graduate of their program for employment in my facility.

I am the Executive Director of Health Link Services. We have an excellent state approved nurse aide training program that provides skills and job training. Our graduates work in hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, home health, hospice and clinics. Our training program had a 100% pass rate on the state competency exam 3 out of 4 quarters in 2009. This program provides an opportunity for individuals to care for our elderly and those with healthcare needs. This training program has been a springboard for individuals to become a RN or LPN. The cost for the training program is zero for individuals. The only cost for an individual is to purchase a white uniform and have his/her physician sign a physical exam form. We are always seeking opportunities for funding, such as fundraising ideas, grants and/or donations.
