Mission: Health access california is the statewide health care consumer advocacy coalition, advocating for the goal of quality, affordable health care for all californians.
Programs: General program: encompasses non-lobbying ad-hoc programmatic activity (often advocacy) that continues furthering the exempt purpose of health access of california.
state lobbying: the organization continues to advocate, organize, and educate member groups and individuals about state and federal health policy, including pending legislation to implement and improve health reform, expand coverage, protect public investments in health, protect consumers, and promote a healthier california. Activities include timely policy alerts and updates, speaking engagements, press conferences and actions, coalition convening's, and one-on-one interactions with policymakers. Lobbying included advancing legislation on setting a standard for essential health benefits and new insurance market rules, and streamlining enrollment and eligibility for coverage.
federal lobbying: health access california continued to stay in touch and provide briefings for california's elected representations in washington, dc during the year. Federal lobbying activities were minimal.
