The goal of the project is to develop relevant curricula for the middle and high school students that utilize what we learned about the heptachlor contamination to date and how it can help to inform how we farm and grow food today. The project would incorporate the latest standards set by the state department of education so that the materials will be utilized by the teachers. Target population for education: grades 7 - 12. Amount of the grant is $18,480. Grant period october 1, 2015 to september 30, 2016. The project was not completed in 2017 and should be finalized in 2018. The foundation board made no major research grants during 2017. The board is considering what followup studies might be supported utilizing the available health statistics and related heptachlor researchers. The administrator monitors any related research on heptachlor contamination and possible health effects. One example is if there is a possible relationship heptachlor exposure and cancer. He maintains contact with the chairman, dr. Donald mattisson, and members of the scientific advisory council.
