Mission: Harris County Air Search and Recovery (HCASR), also known as Aerial Law Enforcement Response Team (A.L.E.R.T.), is the largest air search and rescue unit of its kind in the State of Texas. A.L.E.R.T. is comprised entirely of volunteer professional citizens and peace officers that work together to assist in locating lost children and endangered adults such as Alzheimer's patients who have wandered off. Additionally, the unit assists local and regional law enforcement agencies in emergency disaster relief, locating escaped felons, surveillance of illegal drug operations, and transport of emergency personnel to disaster sites.
