Good Evening :

I am Alison Spencer- the principal of Newfield Primary School. A small public school in the nation of Antigua and Barbuda. Hands across the sea has awakened the interest of both teachers and students in fictional and non-fictional books. I have witnessed visits of classes accompanied by teachers to the library. This interest includes the Kindergarten and Grade One classes. As the principal I find this to be very encouraging because I believe it is easier to sustain the child's interest in reading if the initiated early to listen to their teachers read but more importantly read with support and on their own.

There is a sparkle in the eyes of these young children when they discover that they are stringing words together to form a sentence. It is beautiful to observe that approximately ninety-five percent are reading and comprehending the content of what they read.

On behalf of the Newfield Primary SchoolI wish to express heartiest appreciation for the invaluable contribution that the Hands across the sea team has made and anticipate more in the future.
