Programs: Habitat for humanity of butte county offers homeownership opportunities to families who are unable to obtain conventional house financing. This program is for families who earn between 40-60% of the area median income. Homeowners provide sweat equity hours towards their home, make a $1,000 down payment and assume a 20 or 30 year zero interest mortgage. Homeonwers are selected based on need for housing, willingness to partner with habitat and ability to repay a loan.
brush with kindness program (abwk) is a program of habitat for humanity of butte county that helps low-income homeowners by offering exterior home improvements. Volunteer teams work to improve the condition of homes by painting, landscaping, and performing minor exterior repairs at a minimal cost. Abwk helps homeowners who would be unable to complete home repairs on their own reclaim their homes with pride and dignity. This program is for homeowners earning between 30% and 60% of the area median income. A brush with kindness ensures that families live in safe and well-maintained homes. The program is designed to revitalize the appearance of the neighborhood, encourage connections within the community, and most importantly help preserve affordable housing.
