Wonderful Greyhound adoption group! In the past nearly 20 years, I've adopted & fostered a number of dogs from GU. I have also spent a number of years volunteering at different events. Knowledgeable board members and volunteers. The greyhounds are well taken care of . GU not only takes in retired racing greyhounds, they also take in greyhound mixes and other sighthound breads and finds the appropriate homes for all dogs in their care.
As a volunteer for over twelve years, I have been immensely enriched from being a part of this Greyhound rescue and adoption organization. I have seen extremely neglected and abused dogs go from emaciated sad creatures, to happy healthy pets. This group of people are dedicated and hard working, as most of them are full time employs at their regular jobs and give unending hours of their spare time to caring for Greyhounds in need. The work that goes with finding them permanent homes includes raising funds, doing public events for awareness and the everyday care, feeding and transportation of these dogs. Many volunteers foster them in their homes and help them become adjusted to family life from being raised and homes in kennel situations.
