Causes: Environment, Environmental Education
Mission: Our mission is to raise money for green projects and to educate the public about the most pressing environmental issues facing the planet today. Our overall goal is to help conserve, protect, and improve the environment through funding green projects and through education, which includes steam, nutrition, and conservation education in k-12 schools.
Programs: The outdoor garden classroom program includes an 800-page, prek-5th grade steam curriculum, farmers markets, chef demos, and teacher training. Currently, the program is one of the largest and most comprehensive school garden programs in the united states, operating in more than 150 schools (82% of which are title i schools) across southern nevada and impacting more than 100,000 students. More than 1,200 teachers have been trained to teach in the gardens, using the curriculum, the program includes student- run farmers markets, which are the largest in the state, and a financial literacy program that, in partnership with bank of nevada, trains students to run businesses in 5th grade. In addition, the organization created nevada's first school garden conference, which has become very popular with educators and is now in its 5th year. The organization also helped create nevada's first special needs garden vocational curriculum for middle and high schools.
