I have been involved with this charity for many years. I have asked many friends to become involved as well. I found out a month ago that they had lost their non profit status with the IRS in 2010 yet they continued to solicit fund, products and service from private individuals and corporate sponcers. They continue to hold fund raisers, auctions, raffles, parties in the community begging for money to help the dying . All the while using the "cloak" of what the charities good once represented to the community. We can find no financial data on how they are accounting for or spending this money. I have been told by a tax professional that the IRS does not have time or resources to investigate a small charity like this. I find it disgusting that they people are able to use this once wonderful charity for their own greed to grade" their lifestyles with the funds that were to be used for those truly in need. This charity currently under the leadership of John Burnet dishonors many of the volunteers, donors and victims that once found this group so necessary. Their has been no really openness with this group since he took over as president. If you ask the "wrong" question you are taken off the mailing list for the "election". The board appears to be handpicked each year including all of the officers. It's become a business for profit with no accounting for the donated funds that only line the pockets of their own.
