Mission: The mission of the Ogden Nature Center is to unite people with nature and nurture appreciation and stewardship of the environment.
Results: Over the many years of providing educational field trips to schoolchildren, over 200,000 students and their teachers have enjoyed and been inspired by their visits here. An average of 12,000 people each year are reached by our outreach programs, and demand keeps rising.
Target demographics: Our primary target audience for our education programs are school children in K-6 grades. However, we have programs and events for a variety of audiences, including teens, adults, and families. Many of the schoolchildren that attend our programs are from low-income families.
Programs: Nature education programs- to promote their tax exempt purpose, the ogden nature center taught classes and hosted events to celebrate and enjoy nature, help teach the community about conservation, and about our natural resources, and to provide the opportunity to learn about the plants and animals native to the great basin.
outreach education- the center took their award-winning programs and live animals out to schools, community venues and events to promote their exempt purpose and to celebrate conservation.
animal care- live animals exhibits give our visitors the opportunity to meet and learn about animals native to utah.
volunteer- the ogden nature center provides service opportunities and invities the community to assist in the care of the facilities and grounds, as well as assist with many of the other day to day operational functions such as answering phones, greeting visitors, preparing mailings, helping teach classes, and taking care of the collection of live animals. Volunteers are provided training and/or opportunities to participate in educational programs and events.
