Mission: Mission statement: gracey lee hughes was our triplet who passed away a month after she was born from a bacterial infection called necrotizing fasciitis on july 5, 2006. In her memory, we created a garden that has provided hope and peace for our family and continues to teach our children the importance of service and hard work. Inspired by our sweet daughter, the harvest of hope has been created by a group of engaged and caring neighbors and friends who want to teach their children the value of service and hard work. As a community, the harvest of hope will raise funds to support challenges and hardships faced by those in our community. Through philanthropy our goal is to: - teach our children service and the importance of helping others - impact our community - provide hope
Programs: Our volunteers come together to coordinate the harvest of hope festival once a year to raise money to donate to families in need due to health issues. Our 13 volunteer trustees meet to organize the event and to review the nominations of families in need to determine the recipient/recipients of the festival's proceeds for the current year. This festival consists of food, treats, a silent auction, kids' zone, boutique, pumpkin patch, gracey's garden, and crafts. All of the services and products are donated and volunteers work the event. Advertising is done with community flyers, posters and social media. The 2014 harvest of hope festival provided funds to: - the josh schiffman cancer lab at primary children's hospital in salt lake city. - a family with two special-needs children. One of the children had a stroke, which left him a quadriplegic. He has required multiple surgeries and the festival provided funds to assist with his medical care. - a family with triplets, two of which have cerebral palsy; both require wheelchairs. The children require daily extensive therapy, and the family's home was not wheelchair accessible. The festival provided funds to assist with the extensive cost of therapy, as well as costs to improve the accessibility of the home for the children's wheelchairs.
