Mission: GCDC started its current operations in 1993 under executive director, Lee Jackson, Jr. It intensified efforts to fill rural development needs involving government and community groups. From 1996 to 1998, GCDC restructured its mission to include spearheading efforts to improve area infrastructure, attract new business, provide recreational and cultural events, promote civic involvement and generate educational opportunities for residents of Lowndes County.
