Programs: Water security/sustainable initiatives:getf is a leading partner to communities around the world assisting them in their efforts to attain clean water and sanitation - the foundation for economic opportunity and security. Getf manages a diverse portfolio of clean water programs in over 40 developing countries. In fy2017, getf, through the support of its partner coalition, had reached over 2. 6 mm people with improved access to safe water - marking a significant increase over the prior year. Getf also launched new watershed conservation programs and sustainable agriculture programs in africa in fy2017 that will build climate resilience and food security for these developing countries. Getf also initiated new programming in botswana, chad, and sudan in fy17. As part of our humanitarian response efforts, getf launched activities to support south sudanese refugees who have fled to northern uganda. The foundation also created new initiatives to address water security in the united states, particularly in marginalized regions.

community health systems strengthening:getf leads a diverse coalition of partners to support health ministries throughout africa in their efforts to strengthen and transform their health systems and reach populations at the "last mile. " in fy2017, the getf-supported project last mile (plm) team successfully strengthened health systems across 7 african countries. Leveraging the support of its donor partners (usaid, the coca-cola foundation and the global fund), coca-cola bottlers and african governments, the plm partnership is improving health services and medical product availability in high-need regions of africa. The partnership expanded its efforts in liberia, sierra leone, south africa, tanzania and the drc, among others, in fy 2017.
