Mission: The Gleaners Mission is to challenge hunger by responsibly gathering and re-distributing excess food from wholesalers and retailers to people in need. Gleaners is committed to volunteerism, building relationships and improving the quality of life for the community. Gleaners Dispatch, Inc. was incorporated in 1999, and received its IRC 501c3 designation, which has just passed its 5-year IRS review, and had been confirmed as a public non-profit charitable organization. Each week our #1 objective is to bring hunger relief to people on fixed but inadequate incomes, especially single parent families, senior citizens, handicapped, the under-employed, and/or those people between jobs. Our #2 weekly objective is to salvage excess fresh food from wholesaler and retail vendors who would otherwise dispose of their excess, thus wasting food needed by so many. Our #3 objective is to provide help, guidance and spiritual encouragement to those receiving the food, as well as to those who volunteer their time and service in this "people helping people" ministry of caring. We call it "Sharing God's Love in a Practical Way".
