Mission: The Girls' Club of the Mid-Peninsula (Girls Club) provides a safe and enriching space for girls ages 6-16 in the communities of East Palo Alto and eastern Menlo Park. Our Mission Statement is: To provide activities designed to meet the cultural, educational, aesthetic, social, spiritual, mental, and physical needs of girls in our Service Area, so as to create girl leaders of tomorrow. We serve on average 50 girls per day and nearly 800 girls per year in activities ranging from journalism, Latin dance and computer literacy classes, to book-buying field trips, tutoring, excursions to regional cultural, outdoor, and learning centers, and an on-site cooking workshop with notable local chefs. To support the healthy and successful development of our community?s girls, we provide opportunities for girls to learn, grow and share in the areas of health, academics, community and environment, cultural knowledge and pride, the arts, and technology. Girls' Club was founded in 1969 to realize the local community?s vision of an after-school and summer program tailored to the needs of mainly low-income girls in our service area.
Programs: Our programs include: * Homework Assistance * Health education & personal safety. * Multi-cultural awareness & pride * Mentoring * Sports * Arts, music, dance * Young adolescent issues awareness * Field trips to regional arts & learning centers . . . and other activities to help at-risk girls reach their great positive potential.
