Causes: Children & Youth, Girl Scouts of the U.S.A.
Mission: Girl scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.
Programs: Girl scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place. Our program centers on the girl scout leadership experience (gsle), a one-of-a-kind leadership development program for girls (ages 5 to 17). The gsle is comprised of a collection of activities and experiences girls have as they earn badges, sell cookies, go on exciting trips, explore the outdoors, work on service projects that make a difference in the community and so much more. Through programs that focus on entrepreneurship, the outdoors, life skills and stem (science, technology, engineering and math), girl scouting helps girls: discover who they are, what they care about and what their talents are; connect with other people to make a difference in the world; and take action to make the world a better place. Research shows that girls learn best in an all-girl, girl-led, and girl-friendly environment. Girl scouts is a place where she'll practice different skills, explore her potential, take on leadership positionsand even feel allowed to fail, dust herself off, get up, and try again. Chartered by gsusa to provide girl scouting locally, gssjc is one of the largest girl scout councils in the nation with over 56,000 girls served across 26 counties in southeast texas and over 17,000 adults who gave their time and talents during the year.
